What this site is — and isn't

One page covering this site's scope, the backstory of the Clash open-source ecosystem, and how content stays current.

Site Scope

Clash Download (clash06.com) is a download hub and usage guide for Clash clients. It does two things: it gathers actively maintained clients for Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS on the download page, linking to each project's official release channel; and it turns recurring questions about subscription imports, proxy modes and common issues into Getting Started, Full Setup Guide and FAQ guides. This site doesn't develop clients or offer subscription services.

The Three Layers of the Clash Open-Source Ecosystem

"Clash" originally referred to an open-source proxy core built around rule-based routing. After the original author stopped maintaining it, the community fork Clash.Meta picked up development and was later renamed mihomo, now the actively maintained core. The clients people install day to day — Clash Plus, Clash Verge Rev and others — are graphical wrappers around that core: the core handles traffic, the client handles the interface and settings. Understanding these three layers explains why, once Clash for Windows stopped updating, switching to another client still worked with the same config.

Content Upkeep Principles

Download links only point to each client's official release source, checked periodically against upstream updates, and projects that are no longer maintained are marked clearly. Every step in the guides has been run through on the actual platform before being written up — no screenshot filler. If something no longer matches the latest version, check FAQ first; most discrepancies are addressed there.

Usage boundaries: Clash is a network debugging and traffic management tool.
